The Flour Shop LLC is a certified home bakery located at 900 Baldwin Street Radford, VA. My home kitchen was certified by the Department of Agriculture in 2017 to be a Home Food Operating Business and I am inspected annually to ensure the safety of food products and operations.
Hi! My name is Brittany Gibbs and I am a Certified Working Pastry Chef living in Radford, Virginia with my husband, Brian, and 2-year-old son, Jackson. I love all things baking, cooking, crafty and creative. I have a Bachelor Degree in Business Finance as well as a Master Degree in Business Administration from Radford University. I attended culinary school at the Culinary Institute at Virginia Western Community College where I completed the Baking and Pastry Arts as well as the Culinary Arts certificate of study programs and I will be returning there to teach Advanced Baking Spring semester of 2019. I have worked as head baker at Au Bon Pain, Banquet cook and Pastry Chef at the Inn at Virginia Tech and Assistant Manager at Next Door Bake Shop. Just for the fun of it I have staged, or voluntarily trained with, chefs at Our Daily Bread Bakery & Bistro and Thai This Food Truck. I also have completed an American Culinary Federation Pastry Chef Competition in Charlotte, NC where I was awarded a silver medal.
When our son was born I decided to stay at home with him. After about a year I felt the itch to start baking again. So I figured out what I needed to do to get my home kitchen certified, completed the process and officially started The Flour Shop in May 2017. I have been blown away by the support and growth of the business so far. I have big plans in the future for the Shop and look forward to continuing to learn and develop my skills.
